  The southern accent Kyra Sedgwick faked on the show is annoying as nails on a chalkboard. Fellow New Yorkers like George Carlin or Mary Tyler Moore could fake one much better. The show tends to screw up with violating the sixth amendment which was thankfully fixed on the spin-off Major Crimes . "The writing is really bad. Conversations are made unnatural in order to create problems and drama. Brenda, the main character, shows up at people's homes or workplaces and starts asking them all sorts of questions without telling them who she is, then gets aggressive with people when they get defensive and don't immediately answer her and do what she tells them to.   North, the titular/main character, is an incredibly unlikable protagonist. He is supposed to be a brilliant kid who had the misfortune of having bad parents who don't care for him, but instead he comes across as a kid with serious ego issues who abandons his parents just because he feels they don't give him the attention he feels he deserves. The only reason he comes back to them is that he felt that his  other  parents were either not good enough for him or didn't worship him enough. The fact that this movie ends with a dream sequence and racist stereotypes flood it might suggest that North is either a racist or doesn't understand other people's cultures. He is always rude to everyone, even the people who are nice to him . The story makes no sense, and every scene feels rushed and incomplete. Its message is confusing and problematic.
