My experience with the COVID-19 vaccine
My experience with the COVID-19 vaccine:
In April of 2021, the COVID-19 vaccine became available to the public in Illinois. On the 22nd of that month, I went on a long car ride with my parents to a Walmart store for my first COVID-19 vaccine shot which was the Pfzier one! It was the first time I rode in a car in more than 365 days! Once we got to the Walmart, we were really cautious as we masked up as we went inside and practiced social distancing. I waited patiently as I awaited my first COVID-19 vaccine shot and I stayed calm the entire time. Once I got my first shot, I was given a band-aid on my left arm where I got the injection. Then, I waited while sitting in a chair which felt comfortable to me. Once my parents both got the first shot and we waited a certain amount of time, we all left the store and returned home. Both car rides were so exciting as I got to do a lot of sightseeing as I saw a lot of places that I hadn't seen in a long time.
In between my two shots, I went for a car ride into the city with my parents! It was so much fun as I hadn't been to the downtown area of Chicago in forever! I got to see a lot of areas that I hadn't seen for a long time. I even learned that Northwestern University had places in the Streeterville neighborhood which I never knew about! I even saw other parts of the Chicago area that I hadn't seen in a long time which was so much fun!
On May 13, I went back to the same Walmart with my parents for our second COVID-19 vaccine shots and repeated the same process as before to where I was fully vaccinated! Then, on June 1, I finally returned to New Trier! It was so exciting!
